How To Do Home Pedicure And Manicure

Pedicure

Feet are sometimes the forsaken features that crave to be attended to. They cannot be ignored as beautified feet provides the completion of a beautifully defined 'you'. Hence feet care is essential and here are some simple pedicure steps that go into adding beauty to your feet.

Things Needed

• Nail Cutter
• Nail Filer
• Nail Brush
• Cuticle Cutter
• Cuticle Pusher
• Pumice Stone
• Foot Scraper
• Orange stick
• Basins

Materials

• Acetone
• Bath salts
• Epsom salts
• Liquid soap
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Moisturizing lotion
• Cuticle remove
• Nail polish
• Luke warm water

Home Pedicure

• Remove existing nail polish with cotton dipped in acetone.
• Soak your feet in luke-warm water with liquid soap and Hydrogen peroxide. You can also add Epsom salts or bath salts to the water. Soak for 10 minutes
• Clean your feet with the nailbrush, foot scraper and pumice stone. The idea is to smoothen the skin.
• Remove your feet from the basin
• Cut your toenail straight across which helps prevent ingrown toe nails
• After cutting your toenails, file them to make the edges smooth
• To the base of the skin, apply cuticle remove and rub in. Slowly push the skin back with an orange stick to the place where it meets the skin
• You can use a cuticle moisturizer if the cuticles do not push back.
• Massage your feet with a moisturizing lotion
• You can also use an exfoliating lotion if your skin is too dry
• You can also massage your feet with a good cream.
• Separate your toes with cotton in between them
• Apply the first coat of nail polish and allow it to dry for some time
• Clean up any stray polish on the toes and apply the second coat and allow it to dry.
• Add a clear coat of polish once dried.


Manicure



The word 'manicure' is derived from the Latin word 'manus' (meaning -hand) cure (care).

Purpose of manicure

1. Prevent hang - nail formation.
2. Prevents nail damages like splits, tears, and fragile tips.
3. The accompanying massage of the hands improve and increase the blood circulation, suppleness and flexibility of the hands and wrist.
4. Discourages wrinkling of the skin on the hand, which is one of the first body part to show the sign of aging.

Things Needed

• Nail cutter
• nail filer
• Orange stick
• Cuticle pusher
• Nail brush

Material

• Acetone
• Liquid soap or shampoo
• Oil or cream
• Warm water
• Antiseptic lotion
• Nail polish

Procedure

1. Remove the old polish with acetone using cotton
2. Shape the nail using nail cutter and nail filer
3. Dip and soak the hands in luke warm water to which liquid soap or shampoo is added
4. Wash the hand with cold clear water and then wipe fingers with a soft towel
5. Clean the nail using orange stick and cotton dipped in Antiseptic lotion
6. Buff the cuticle with some cream
7. Push the cuticle back gently using cuticle pusher
8. Massage the hands for five minutes
9. Apply the first coat of nail polish
10. When the first coat is dried and hard apply the second coat. Do not dab but stroke in on with three even strokes starting at the base and sweeping up to the top
11. Allow to dry thoroughly in between the coats

DO's

• DO- Use a base coat when painting the nails.
• DO- Soak cuticles.
• DO- Push back cuticles -carefully.
• DO- File nails regularly.
• DO- Clean under the free edge of the nail, carefully.
• DO- Buff the nails, but not too much.
• DO- Massage the hands and arm, legs and feet, it stimulates blood flow.

DON'T

• DON'T- Put the polish right up to the cuticle.
• DON'T- Cut cuticles.
• DON'T- Use a blade to relieve your feet from callouses- way too dangerous.
• DON'T- Use metal files.
• DON'T- Trade manicures or pedicures if tinea is present, because it will spread to you.
• DON'T- Disregard warts, they also spread.
• DON'T- Let this scare you!
